The firm seeks a 2L or 3L law student for a paid clerkship who is motivated and wants to gain immensely valuable work experience. Clerkships are Full-Time for the summer; Part-Time during the academic year to work a minimum of 8 hours a week. Applications for both Part-Time and Full-Time clerkships are now being accepted. Deadline to apply for a summer clerkship is April 7, 2017.
The firm offers a one-year fellowship for a highly qualified recent law school graduate to assume the responsibility of a junior associate and gain valuable hands-on experience and have direct client contact. The firm expects that fellows will have taken the California Bar exam either before joining the firm or within a few months of beginning the fellowship. Deadline to apply for a fellowship is June 30, 2017.

Law clerks and fellows will work closely with firm attorneys and have a great opportunity to learn how to practice in all areas of municipal and public entity law in both transactional and litigation matters. Transactional matters may include attendance at public meetings, drafting ordinances and resolutions, performing legal research, reviewing and drafting contracts, and providing advice regarding the myriad of legal issues public entities encounter on a daily basis Litigation responsibilities may include preparation of pleadings, drafting discovery requests and responses, and performing legal research in all areas of litigation, including prosecuting municipal infractions, nuisance abatement, tort and civil rights liability, land use and environmental issues. The firm also represents private clients in business, employment, estate planning, construction and real estate matters; law clerks/fellows may also be involved in working in these practice areas.
Strong academic background and excellent writing and communication skills are required.
