Mid-Senior Level Associate

The firm is currently recruiting a mid-senior level attorney with experience in civil or criminal litigation and/or general municipal and public entity law. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive legal services to our public agency clients, including: municipal code enforcement work in criminal court, the Brown Act, Public Records Act, Political Reform Act, CEQA, land use, and public construction.


  • 3-6 years of relevant public agency and/or private firm experience.

  • Strong academic background and excellent communication skills required.

  • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage several simultaneous projects under deadlines.

  • Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of California.

Law Clerkship and Law Fellowship


The firm seeks a 2L or 3L law student for a paid clerkship who is motivated and wants to gain immensely valuable work experience. Clerkships are Full-Time for the summer; Part-Time during the academic year to work a minimum of 8 hours a week.


The firm seeks and offers up to a one-year paid fellowship for a highly qualified recent law school graduate to assume the responsibility of a junior associate and gain valuable hands-on experience and have direct client contact. The firm expects that fellows will have taken the California Bar exam either before joining the firm or within a few months of beginning the fellowship.

Law clerks and fellows will work closely with firm attorneys and have a great opportunity to learn how to practice in all areas of municipal and public entity law in both transactional and litigation matters. Transactional matters may include attendance at public meetings, drafting ordinances and resolutions, performing legal research, reviewing and drafting contracts, and providing advice regarding the myriad of legal issues public entities encounter on a daily basis, including the Brown Act, Public Records Act, Political Reform Act, and CEQA. Litigation responsibilities may include preparation of pleadings, drafting discovery requests and responses, and performing legal research in all areas of litigation, including prosecuting municipal infractions, nuisance abatement, tort and civil rights liability, land use and environmental issues. The firm also represents private clients in business, employment, estate planning, construction and real estate matters; law clerks/fellows may also be involved in working in these practice areas.

Strong academic background and excellent writing and communication skills are required.

Legal Assistant/Paralegal

The firm seeks an experienced full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join its dynamic practice. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in a law office setting, with specific experience in civil litigation.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Preparing pleadings and other documents for mailing, service and filing with court;

  • Managing discovery, including drafting discovery requests and calendaring discovery deadlines; organizing, reviewing and analyzing documents for production; and organizing, summarizing and analyzing medical records;

  • Maintaining the firm’s calendar on assigned files;

  • Pre-trial preparation, including organizing and indexing exhibits; preparing trial binders; and serving as liaison between the firm and third parties such as witnesses, clients, vendors, experts and courtroom personnel;

  • Supporting lead attorney, associate attorneys, and other paralegals, as required.


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of relevant civil litigation experience as a paralegal at a law firm;

  • Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of both federal and state court rules and calendaring experience (e-filing experience required);

  • Outstanding reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills;

  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills;

  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and to prioritize work effectively while working under the pressure of deadlines;

  • Work independently and also successfully as a team player in a busy but congenial office environment;

  • Possess advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Paralegal Certificate Required; Notary Public Commission Certificate preferred.
